Historic Midtown

In the early 1900s this area was known as Automobile Row, a hub for purchasing cars in St. Louis. Since then the area has taken on the name Midtown Alley, becoming home to several St. Louis landmarks including Forest Park, the Fox Theater, and Saint Louis University. New developments including Steelcote Lofts, the Armory District, the Foundry, and the booming innovative Cortex district are all bringing new life to this historic district.  Coffee shops, restaurants, parks and nightlife abound in Midtown.

Steelcote History

Designed by Hellmuth & Hellmuth in the early 1900s, this building was originally home to Steelcote Manufacturing Co., a St. Louis based enamel company. The re-developed building, Steelcote Lofts, is the first phase of the Steelcote Square neighborhood, featuring restaurants, microbrewery, retail and additional apartments. Steelcote Lofts celebrates the rich history of the building with a modern twist.
